Sanskrit Guru AI (“the app”) is an offline Sanskrit dictionary and learning application published by Sri Hayavadhana Info-Tech. We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app does and does not do with information.

The short version

Sanskrit Guru AI does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. The app works entirely offline and does not request internet access. There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking.

No data collection

  • The app does not request the INTERNET permission and is technically unable to send any information off your device.
  • We do not collect names, email addresses, location, contacts, device identifiers, or any other personal information.
  • There are no user accounts and no logins.
  • There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.

Information stored only on your device

To make the app useful, a few preferences are saved locally on your device only. This information never leaves your phone and is permanently removed when you uninstall the app:

  • Your saved / favourite words and recent search history.
  • Quiz scores, flashcard progress, and Class 1–10 course progress.
  • App settings (theme, font size, notification preference).

You can clear your search history at any time from the app’s Settings screen, and all local data is erased if you clear the app’s storage or uninstall it.

Permissions the app uses

  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — used only to show an optional daily “Word of the Day” reminder that is generated entirely on your device. You can turn this off in Settings, and the app works fully without it.

The app does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage, or any other sensitive permission.

Text-to-speech (pronunciation)

The Speak & Repeat and pronunciation features use the text-to-speech engine already built into your Android device. The app simply asks the system to read a word aloud. It does not record audio, does not use the microphone, and does not send any text to a server. All processing is handled locally by Android’s own system service.

Dictionary content

The Sanskrit–English dictionary data is bundled inside the app and derived from the Cologne Digital Sanskrit Dictionaries (Monier-Williams and Apte), used under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike licence. The app is free and contains no advertising, in line with the non-commercial terms.

Children’s privacy

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Because no data is collected at all, the app poses no data-privacy risk to children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a revised “Last updated” date. Since the app is fully offline, any change would relate only to clarifications, not new data practices.
